Progress of R&D of SCSC cable in autumn 2024 (11): Experimental study of current sharing between layers of two-layer spiral coated conductors

Abstract:In this study, we set several Hall sensors inside a brass core, then wound one coated conductor and one SUS tape on the first layer, and one coated conductor with a local Ic drop on the second layer. Due to the two layers generating different longitudinal magnetic fields along the core of the cable, the changes of the self-field in the longitudinal direction were measured by using the Hall sensors to clarify the current redistribution.
