Abstract:We are investigating whether mixing organic olefin-based thermosetting dicyclopentadiene resin, commercially available as TELENE by RIMTEC Corporation in Japan, with high heat capacity ceramic powders, increases the specific heat of impregnated Nb3Sn superconducting magnets. Gd2O3, Gd2O2S, and HoCu2 were chosen as a ceramic powder filler. Those of the viscosity, heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and other physical properties of TELENE with or without a filler were studied. A part of this study is supported by the U.S.-Japan Science and Technology Cooperation Program in High Energy Physics operated by MEXT in Japan and DOE in the U.S.
