Abstract:Utilizing HTS coils on scanning magnet for carbon-ion radiotherapy could significantly increase the generated magnetic field from less than 0.3 T to 1 T. Increased magnetic field would increase the deflection angle of beam, and reduce the length between scanning magnet and patient. Therefore, size of the rotating gantry for carbon-ion radiotherapy could be reduced. We designed HTS magnet which adapted low ac loss HTS cable known as spiral copper-plated striated coated-conductor (SCSC) cable based on electromagnetic field analyses and examined its feasibility.
