Abstract:Numerical analyses of AC losses in spiral-coated-conductor cables
ABST: We developed a numerical analysis program to evaluate the AC loss in the long assembly of coated conductors wound spirally on round metal core, which is provided commercially as CORC (Conductor on Round Core) cable or wire. The analyzed cable was composed by 3 layers of coated conductors, and each layer has 2 conductors. The AC losses of the cables under AC magnetic field and/or with AC transport current were calculated and were compared with the measured results of a short cable under same conditions.
