Abstract:Application of superconductors for power transmission over long distances is not possible without using high-performance thermal insulation whose quality depends significantly on the degree of vacuum. The design of thermal insulation used in Ishikari Project, allows as to maintain vacuum even when the vacuum pumps are separated by a distance of several kilometers. The report is devoted to analysis of the results obtained in this project.
