Abstract:The self-magnetic field of HTS tape decreases the critical current and the elimination of perpendicular component of self-magnetic field can improve the current carrying capacity of the HTS tape. In the present work we investigate the elimination of self-magnetic field acting of the HTS tape by the ferromagnetic shield. The method of investigation is the finite element analysis. It was found that the optimal configuration of the ferromagnetic coating contains gap on the lateral side of the tape. The research was also performed for the stack of HTS tapes where neighbor tapes have opposite direction of transport current.
