Fabrication and Jc properties of Ta/monel double-sheathed PIT MgB2 wires

Abstract:Low packing density is a reason of low Jc for Powder-in-Tube (PIT) MgB2 wires. In this work, we used Ta/monel sheath instead of frequently-used Fe sheath to make dense MgB2 core and got higher Jc values. The microstructures were also discussed.
