Abstract:The effects of mechanical deformation on transport critical current densities (Jc) of the Ba122/Ag tapes fabricated by ex-situ powder-in-tube method have been studied. We found that the uniaxial cold pressing is significantly effective for the enhancement of Jc. A high transport Jc of 69000 A/cm2 in 10 T at 4.2 K has been obtained. This is the highest value reported so far for iron based superconducting wires.
