A phase-domain model for superconducting synchronous machine

Abstract:A phase-domain model for superconducting synchronous machine is presented. It permits to obtain fast and accurate prediction of the transient and steady-state behavior of the machine integrated with the rest of the power network. As opposed to the classical qd model, the phase-domain model permits to take into account harmonic effects due to magnetic circuit geometry and nonlinear magnetization. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, it is applied to an air-cored HTS 10 MW class wind turbine generator.
