In the electrical insulation design of the pancake coil type HTS transformer the knowledge of the dielectric behavior of both LN2 and GN2 in the transformer windings are very importance. Particularly, spacer is used necessarily in pancake coil type HTS transformer. Thus, the flashover characteristics of LN2 in the presence of spacer and the breakdown characteristics as a function of cooling channel to design of the optimal dimension were investigated.
