Heat leak estimation of Peltier current leads used in Ishikari project

Abstract:Peltier current leads (PCLs) for HTS DC applications can significantly reduce the heat load on the cryogenic system and increase its overall performance. In order to investigate their operational properties in power electrical network for the first time, PCLs developed in Chubu University were mounted at the terminals of 500- and 1000-meter HTS DC cable facilities in Ishikari, Japan. Real-time multi-channel data acquisition system was created to monitor a large amount of data that allowed to determine the number of operating parameters. Test were successfully done at the current of up to 6 kA. Experimental results will be presented at the conference.
